Construction of analysis-suitable G1 planar multi-patch parameterizations

چکیده
Isogeometric analysis allows to define shape functions of global C continuity (or of higher continuity) over multi-patch geometries. The construction of such C-smooth isogeometric functions is a non-trivial task and requires particular multi-patch parameterizations, so-called analysis-suitable G (in short, AS-G) parameterizations, to ensure that the resulting C isogeometric spaces possess optimal approximation properties, cf. [7]. In this work, we show through examples that it is possible to construct AS-G multi-patch parameterizations of planar domains, given their boundary. More precisely, given a generic multi-patch geometry, we generate an AS-G multi-patch parameterization possessing the same boundary, the same vertices and the same first derivatives at the vertices, and which is as close as possible to this initial geometry. Our algorithm is based on a quadratic optimization problem with linear side constraints. Numerical tests also confirm that C isogeometric spaces over AS-G multi-patch parameterized domains converge optimally under mesh refinement, while for generic parameterizations the convergence order is severely reduced.

Dimension and basis construction for C2-smooth isogeometric spline spaces over bilinear-like G2 two-patch parameterizations
A particular class of planar two-patch geometries, called bilinear-like G two-patch geometries, is introduced. This class includes the subclass of all bilinear two-patch parameterizations and possesses similar connectivity functions along the patch interface. The space of C-smooth isogeometric functions over these specific two-patch geometries is investigated. The study is based on the equivale...
متن کاملConstructing IGA-suitable planar parameterization from complex CAD boundary by domain partition and global/local optimization
In this paper, we propose a general framework for constructing IGA-suitable planar B-spline parameterizations from given complex CAD boundaries consisting of a set of B-spline curves. Instead of forming the computational domain by a simple boundary, planar domains with high genus and more complex boundary curves are considered. Firstly, some pre-processing operations including Bézier extraction...
متن کاملPlanar multi-patch domain parameterization via patch adjacency graphs
As a remarkable difference to the existing CAD technology, where shapes are represented by their boundaries, FEM-based isogeometric analysis typically needs a parameterization of the interior of the domain. Due to the strong influence on the accuracy of the analysis, methods for constructing a good parameterization are fundamentally important. The flexibility of single patch representations is ...
متن کاملThe development of high quality seals for silicon patch-clamp chips.
Planar patch-clamp is a two-dimensional variation of traditional patch-clamp. By contrast to classical glass micropipette, the seal quality of silicon patch-clamp chips (i.e. seal resistance and seal success rate) have remained poor due to the planar geometry and the nature of the substrate and thus partially obliterate the advantages related to planar patch-clamp. The characterization of physi...
متن کاملAdaptively refined multi-patch B-splines with enhanced smoothness
A spline space suitable for Isogeometric Analysis (IgA) on multi-patch domains is presented. Our construction is motivated by emerging requirements in isogeometric simulations. In particular, IgA spaces should allow for adaptive mesh refinement and they should guarantee the optimal smoothness of the discretized solution, even across interfaces of adjacent patches. Given a domain manifold M cons...
